We will visit several historical sites, beginning with Panama La Vieja, the original Panama City, founded in 1519. This was the first settlement on the Pacific coast of the Americas. It was plundered and destroyed by British buccaneer Henry Morgan in 1671.

We continue our tour visiting the Old Colonial Area (“Casco Antiguo”), which was the site of the second city of what is now known as “3-cities-in-one”. This very unique area was founded after the original city was destroyed in 1671. Its very unique architecture is due to both Spanish and French influence. The Spanish remained in Panama until its independence in 1821 and the French arrived in 1880, in the first attempt at building the Panama Canal, which failed. |
We will also visit the modern Panama City, with its impressive skyline, banking district and commercial centers. From there we will continue on to the Amador Causeway (the 3.5 miles strip made from Panama Canal dredging materials, joining the mainland with the three islands that were heavily-fortified wartime U.S. military defense outposts in the Pacific Ocean entry to the Canal). Here we will stop for lunch |

In the afternoon, we will visit Miraflores Locks, where a Panama Canal Authority guide will explain the canal operation. We will watch actual ships transit through the locks. Here we will also visit the 4-story Canal Museum, with the following displays: Floor #1: Canal history; Floor #2: Water: fountain of life; Floor #3: The Canal In Action; and Floor #4: The Canal In the World Today.
INCLUDED: Ground transportation, lunch, and entry to the Miraflores Locks Visitors Center, including both guides (the Tour Operator´s Guide and the Panama Canal Museum Guide).
NOTE: Even though prescheduled, the ships exact transit times through the Panama Canal are not guaranteed and could vary, thus delaying our tour. |
