This environmentally-protected-area´s name originates from the Colonial era. This park acts as a biological path between Panama City´s Metropolitan Park and the Soberania National Park. Within the “Camino de Cruces”, we can still witness an important part of the “Camino Transístmico” (“Trans-Isthmian Roadway”) used 400 years ago by the Spaniards to funnel the treasures from the Pacific-side of their conquered lands in Latin America, to the Caribbean port city of Portobello…. to then board these riches on the galleons that would traverse the Atlantic to Spain.
