Our adventure starts at 7:00 a.m. with a boat ride through Gatún Lake. We will disembark at Barro Colorado Island, a scientific research station originally designated as such by the American Academy of Sciences in 1923, and now administered by the Washington, D.C.-based Smithsonian´s Tropical Research Institute (STRI) since 1946. Here we will walk through an interpretative path of the tropical forest, where we may watch a great variety of plants.

Next we’ll visit the Visitors Center, where there is a permanent exhibit called, “El Bosque Habla” (The forest talks). We’ll also visit the STRI eco-store where we may purchase souvenirs. After lunch, we’ll start our journey back to the city.
We’ll return to the Gamboa Quay around 3:00 p.m. |
